What is a Black Belt
When someone hears that someone is a black belt they typically think of someone who is rough around the edges and has a large ego. But that is extremely rare. We see it in our own school, no one in Silent River Kung Fu fits that description of the stereotypical black belt that the public thinks. So what actually is a black belt?
Well for starters the belt colour is the last thing that makes a black belt. The person could be the greatest martial artist and still never become a black belt, why? Because it’s about how they treat themselves, their pries, and their environment. Are they kind, respectful, caring, loving, supportive, a team player, and are they willing to always looking for an opportunity to improve themselves? Can they hold themselves accountable to the promises and goals make? If no, than they are not reading to become a black belt. That person needs to develop the discipline, and this discipline starts them on their journey to achieve mastery. Someone who is a black belt will always be looking to improve. Not just in the martial arts, but in work, family, and any and everything about their lives. Because they know that if they work hard enough and long enough on their journey to achieve mastery, they’ll become very close to it and stay near it forever.
