Demo Day Thoughts
I am really proud of the team for our performance on Monday, everyone looked very good during their performances. I have never done a lot of demos before, this is the most I’ve done in a year, with the parade and Canada day demos. There is a certain level of excitement you get right before it’s your turn to go out, and once your out it’s almost like there is nothing around you, at least for me that is. I never noticed the crowd around us during the demo on Canada day when I was performing, I heard the drum, my feet moving in the grass, and my breath, I didn’t notice anything else and pay attention to anything else. I don’t know if it is good or bad to be that much tunnel visioned during a performance. It definitely helped me go through my form without being distracted. To me it would depend on what I am doing in the demo, if I was a lion I’d want to be paying attention to the drum, Buddha, and the crowd so I can engage with them. If I was on the dragon I’d probably act similar to how I would during a form demonstration. I’ll need to be in more demos first to see if what I’m saying is true about me.

I am much the same as you. I have the jittery excitement before a demo and then while performing an almost tunnel vision of myself and my opponent. The downside to this is I barely remember how I performed after. I really like to watch the video if there is one after to see how I did lol.
