Worst Hole of Golf
Today I played once of if not the worst holes of golf in my life. The first hole was actually great, I chipped in from about 30 yards away! The rest of the front nine was good too, no birdies but pars for the most part. We played at the Silver Sands golf course. I’ve never played there until today. The greens were great, fairways were clean and short, and thankfully there wasn’t a lot of water on this course either. The back nine holes is where my game to a massive turnaround. Hole 12 is a 608 yard par 5 with a blind tee shot that must carry over 200 yards between two massive spruce trees, only giving you 20 yards of room to get your first shot through. I did not get my ball through it the first, or the second time. After finding my third shot I than hit the ball out of bounds into the forest, I could not find it. Than taking a drop where the ball went out of bounds I chunk my wedge shot to than be short of the green. I chip onto the green to than 3 putt. Safe to say…not my greatest hole in this sport. I realized something after finishing this nightmare of a golf hole. I still finished. It was tough, frustrating, and nearly made me want to quite the hole and move onto the next one. But there was certain satisfaction when I finished it. And it’s the same for all of us in the martial arts. There are going to be parts of our journey where it is just down right horrible. Whether it is because you are injured, family, other commitments. We are all going to “finish” our journey and move onto the next one. Some of us will finish faster than others, but we will all get there eventually.
